Unit 5- Project

Q Much like you tracked your nutrition for earlier units, you will be tracking a stress management practice for this one. Choose a stress management technique that you'd like to try, or get better at doing. You can consider some of the options from the "Stress Management Techniques" articles, or explore your own ideas. Popular choices include: Meditation, Guided Imagery, Journaling, Yoga, Tai Chi, Deep Breathing, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Adult Coloring pages, or check with your instructor if you have an other ideas you want to check. (Although they are technically relaxation activities, you CANNOT chose "exercising" or "listening to music" or "watching Netflix" for this project). Using whichever method you choose: List the name of stress management technique you wish to practice. Why did you choose this one? What do you expect the experience to be like? Have you tried this before? What do you usually do to manage stress? Find three (3) resources like websites or media that instruct you on how to use this technique. Cite the URLs or book/authors. Optional: Take the technique for a test run to see if there's anything you'll need to change before your "practice" next week.

Some of the stress management techniques I wish to practice are meditation, deep breathing exercise, and yoga. This one was chosen because these are particularly effective ways for reducing stress, headaches, and improving quality of sleep. I do meditation as it soothes all of my senses. Closing my eyes, emptying my mind, and sensing my body are always the first things I do during meditation. Then I concentrate on my breathing to help me maintain focus and avoid distractions.
